A space for people who build, test, break, and improve models.

We are creating a lightweight meeting space inside USYS where PhD students, postdocs, and faculty can exchange modeling ideas, methods, and practical lessons across USYS groups and projects. It is also a platform to know who is doing what and to share ongoing modeling activities.

Modelers @ USYS is a community-led initiative to connect people working on models across the department. Our first initiatives include a biannual mixer event and an email list to share ongoing modeling activities across USYS.

Why this exists

Modeling work often stays within research groups and project silos.

Many teams solve similar technical problems in parallel.

Cross-group exchange can improve robustness and creativity.

The core motivation is networking and understanding who is doing what across USYS, so we can discover opportunities to do more things together.
